P.S. I....

I knew before I walked in to the theater to watch P.S. I Love You with my friends that this movie is going to be one chick-flick tear-jerker.

Little did I know that I'd be crying practically right from the very beginning!

Well, okay, so I know that Gerard Butler's character was already dead in this movie and that his widow, Hilary Swank, was left to pick up the pieces of her life and move on. But flashbacks of their times together, seen through Holly's (Swank) memories and... -sighs- OK, how can you not fall for a rogue romantic Irishman, huh? I mean, jeezums! Not only was Gerry (Butler) oozing with charm, he was also the epitome of every woman's dream guy!

Sure he says things without thinking about it at first, and he's ever the patient of men who really, really loves his wife so much hence why he schemed a plan to help her get on and continue on living even though the chapter of his life has already ended.

There were a few chuckle-worthy moments in the film, but the whole point of the movie, IMO, is that Gerry doesn't want Holly to stop living the life she was supposed to live. He wanted her to find that niche of hers; he wanted her to be successful, and even though he did it in a morbid sort of way (OK, receiving a birthday cake on your 30th bday signed with your deceased husband's name would creep anybody out), but to me it all seemed romantic. Not to mention the accompanying tape recorder with a message for his wife. Gerry was conversing with Holly almost when he recorded that message; it showed just how much he knew his wife so well and anticipated her answers.

I left the theater wondering where I'm going to find my Gerry or if ever I'm going to find someone like him...

Ladies, if you want a feel-good movie that will make you yearn for that something more, then THIS is the movie I suggest you watch with your current beau.

And Guys? It never hurts to be a romantic every once in a while...

Happy New Year!

Oh wow...I can't believe we're already in Day 4 of 2008! Time sure is flying fast, eh?

OK, no reviews for this post, but hey, it's Friday today and I ain't got much planned for this weekend. Maybe I'll load myself up with movies galore and watch all those DVDs I bought on sale but never got the time to watch OR actually drag my lazy arse off to the theater and watch a new-release flick. We'll see.

Hope everybody had a safe and joyous new year! More updates in later blog posts...
